Geht es um das Outsourcing und Offshoring von IT und IT-gestützten Dienstleistungen, belegt Indien nach wie vor die vordersten Ränge. Das „Silicon Valley Indiens“, Bangalore, belegt im globalen Ranking nach wie vor Platz 1. Weitere indische Metropolen unter den TOP10 sind Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad und Pune. Noch immer gehen mehr als die Hälfte der globalen Outsourcing Projekte im BPO/IT-Bereich nach Indien.
Auch einige sogenannte „Second-Tier-Cities“ in Indien konnten unter den TOP100 ihr Ranking verbessern: Chandigarh (Bundesstaat Punjab) steht nun auf Platz 23, Kalkutta (Westbengalen) auf Platz 25, Jaipur (Rajasthan) auf 38 und Ahmedabad (Gujarat) verbesserte sich sogar um 6 Plätze und steht heute auf Rang 63. Nach Daten der Volkszählungen 2011 liegt die Einwohnerzahl im „Silicon Valley Indiens“, Bangalore, bei ca. 8,5 Einwohnern. Bangalore ist damit die die drittgrößte Stadt Indiens, nach Mumbai und Delhi. Die Stadt wird geprägt von zahlreichen Technikparks, über Tausend Softwarefirmen haben sich hier angesiedelt, aber auch Unternehmen im Bereich Biotechnologie, Luft-und Raumfahrt. Etwa 150 deutsche Unternehmen haben eine Tochtergesellschaft in Bangalore, dazu zählen SAP, Siemens, Bosch, Daimler, Lapp Kabel, GEA Group ebenso wie zahlreiche KMU’s (auch: Categis Solutions Pvt. Ltd.). Diese deutschen Unternehmen haben hier etwa 50.000 Arbeitsplätze geschaffen.
